A little wait but worth it…
My good friend Luke emailed me a few weeks before the day of his surprise proposal to his girlfriend Jess. I have known the 2 of them for 6 years and I was so honored to be asked by my friends to help capture this special moment that they would remember forever. What made the day even sweeter was that just 2 hours later I would by photographing another one of my close friends surprising his girlfriend with
a ring as well!
(Check out “Engagement Part II” after")
I had brought my friend Metri to the first shoot with me as a second shooter and to also grab photos of myself behind the scenes. I arrived to the location about 30mins before Luke & Jess was set to arrive. At no ones fault at all and just like weddings this engagement did not start on time. I was squatting in the woods with my camera for about 40 extra minutes, seriously no shade to my friend, it was funny. He couldn’t tell Jess to really hurry up because he didn’t want to seem suspicious.
To add a little cherry on top he had even sent me the whole plan of where he was going to set up the proposal and everything when he and his girlfriend arrived at the spot he stopped one step before the “x” and there was a big tree right in my view point.
I had nowhere to move to get a better angle and I did not want to ruin the surprise so I waited about 5-10 seconds behind the wall trying to capture what I could and then hopped over the rock wall I was hiding behind.
Jess later told me she had whipped her head so fast in my direction because she thought I was a bear!😂 Oh my gosh could you imagine!?
We had an amazing photoshoot and captured some beautiful moments that day and I have an awesome and funny story to to tell.
You always have to be prepared to act quickly about the things you don’t plan for.
Luke and Jess thank you so much for this opportunity and your wedding was absolutely gorgeous!!😭😊
